About James Hill

James Hill James Christopher Hill was born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1966.
After working as a professional artist in the early 1980's, James finally received formal training at the prestigious Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL. In 1998, he graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Computer Animation; a field that focused mainly on the understanding and discipline of master drawing and painting skills. His senior thesis entitled "Jataka" took home the Gold Oscar in the category of Best Student Computer Animation in 1998 from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. After he graduated he then returned to his love of painting utilizing his new skills and knowledge to create his ongoing style of works.

While James has developed a large number of private collectors; his commercial client list includes restaurants, hospitals and museums. He has been profiled on talk shows, newspapers and magazines. James has won numerous awards in art and computer animation including being named as a finalist in the 2002 Artist Magazine Art Awards.

His continuing work explores the use of color and rhythm to create moving images that seek to bring a particular mood or emotion by invoking a memory that is meaningful to the viewer. His skyscapes are metaphors for various emotions that one feels during perfect moments in their life. One client was quoted as to say that James' ™s work is the perfect combination of realism and abstract.
