Artist's Description
This painting took over a year to finally finish. I created it to reflect what Earth will look like in the future if we don't grow up as Human Beings on this planet. Where the Roman Empire was once the most powerful empire on the planet, we are heading in the same direction. We have allowed our leaders to be corporate puppets and our corporations to collapse our economy, our ecosystem and our very atmosphere only so that the top 1 percent can get more wealthy. It's sick! We had better change, get rid of greed and corruption or we are heading for a similar, no worse, fate than that of the Romans of 2000 years ago. I wrote this in 2010.

James Christopher Hill
A long time ago in 2008 right after the Housing Bubble burst, I made this painting to reflect the endless greed of mankind in search for useless and passing vanity like power and more money than one ever needs while billions are starving thanks to corrupt governments, warlords, etc. usually headed up by some deeply insecure narcissistic maniac that only wants to spread hate and divide people. This is a reminder of the end result of that regime. If we DON'T make sudden changes in how we burn fossil fuels into the atmosphere and grow too much cattle for slaughter while chopping down rainforests compounding exponentially the irreversible effects of accelerated climate change. Sure, we are in a natural cycle, but our world is 2 degrees hotter in Celsius than the world can take ever. It has not been this hot since 800,000 years ago! Think about that. Mother Nature and the Earth will be fine in 3 million years but you can bet she will get rid of us soon if we don't start demanding from our governments change now! No more backing up big oil and coal. In fact, did you know we only use 20% of the oil extracted which is limited on Earth as we use oil in over 20,000 various items that our lives require. So let's at least give our atmosphere a break from Methane and CO2 emissions and clean up this planet for our children, or this is all that will be left on a planet that simply cannot sustain life.

Hello Berek, It's so good to hear from you. My current email is JamesHillGallery@Outlook.com Fine Art America is hard to track most of the time so I just saw your response a few days ago and wanted to write back to you. I hope you both are doing very well! What have you two been up too since I last saw you back in 2008 I believe. I'm so glad the painting speaks to you and that you love it. It's always wonderful to hear my clients/friends are happy with their purchase. I'm working hard on new oil paintings as my life has been insanely busy since 2015 working on commissions for other people and now it's time to work on my own work again. I've been selling my old inventory well after many years of sitting on the walls as they eventually all find the homes or places they need to be in. I'll be at DragonCon again for the 17th time! I can't believe how much time flies! Anyway, please feel free to contact me if you have any requests as I'm currently getting into portraiture and full figure in oils. If you would, could you please send me a photo or two of the painting on your walls like a nice long shot and a closer one to show how it looks in a room? Please let me know if I can do anything for you. :) Until I hear from you again, Take care you two or perhaps now a family. I would love to hear more about your life. - Best - James
